We are reminded over and over to be thankful to Him.  For, even in hard times, He sends blessings, and if we are not careful, we can overlook those things, and miss blessings that were intended for us.

The Old Town Hall in Severance

Severance Community Church (SCC) began as a home Bible study by folks who felt that a community which hadn’t had a church in over 70 years should have one. As it grew, they changed from a mid-week study to a Sunday format and began meeting in the old Town Hall.  The group remained faithful to the task with men from the class teaching weekly.

SCC is a small congregation with minimal financial basis, so they asked the Rockies Southwest Bible Church Extension mission board  to be of assistance and they were put  in contact with Pastor Les Gwin.

In 2007, Pastor Les was a guest speaker for a few meetings and this continued for several months. He was then asked to consider becoming the Pastor of this flock. However, he lived in Arvada and his wife worked in Jefferson County Schools, so they have pastored long-distance for a year and a half.  The Gwins sold their home in Arvada and moved to the Severance area in April of 2009.

We are excited to see what the Lord will do with this humble beginning.  We had our largest single attendance at our recent Harvest Banquet (held in a nearby garage)  with 37 people joining us for the day. We usually have about 20 in church.
